Join Us for a unique closing for Ubuntu Exhibit at 1310 Gallery. For the closing we have several workshops for you to take with local artist, Efunlayo, Anthony Burks, and Asanyah Davidson to name a few. Its an opportunity for you to make personalized Mother's Day gifts.  There is also a marketplace with art, clothing, and accessories for sale. The official closing reception is from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. which includes an Artist Talk with some of the participating artist.

doll making workshop

Join us for doll making extravaganza workshop wth doll artist, J. Enfunlayo Maxey, to have fun andlet your creativity flow! We love dolls because they reflect our human experiences through their form and style. Dolls can connect us to our ancestral heritage providing a path to self-discovery. Come, have fun and connect to the hidden sometimes forgotten memories of families, loved ones and past life experiences.      

Time: 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Cost: $35 per person. Includes all required materials
No sewing or craft experience needed. Ages 8 and up. Males are welcome!!






Create your own on trend Harem Pants (see above photo). Great project for Beginner/Intermediate seamstresses.

Time: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Cost: $50 per person. Includes 2 yards of fabric and notions

Class size limited to 6 people.

Please bring your sewing machine for this class.



Join artist Anthony Burks to create an original mixed media piece. Create a piece similiar to his rooted ground series while incorporating an Adinkra Symbol of your choosing.

Time: 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $25 per person. Includes all supplies.

How do you do your dangle? Geometric? Whimsical? Floral? Whatever your fancy, you can make it in bronze!  Because of the firing requirements of the bronze, pieces will need to be picked up on another date.

Time: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Cost: $40 per person. Includes all supplies. 




Make yourself or your mother jewelry and/or a foot scrub just in time for Mother's Day.

1310 Gallery offers over 3000 square feet of exhibition space split into 3 levels, and housed within ArtSpace’s Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts, in a historic area of downtown Ft Lauderdale. 1310 Gallery is an artist run collective that rotates art exhibitions monthly.

Sankofa's Child Inc


Sankofa's Child Inc is cultural arts company that offers cultural arts services in a variety of disciplines including but not limited to visual arts, writing, spoken word, dance, and theater. Since its inception in 2004 Sankofa's Child Inc has been servicing the tri-county area (Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami Dade County) and to date has touched the lives over 20,000 children and 1,000 teachers through professional development workshops.  Their motto is “Connecting our Heritage to our Future…through the Arts.” The mission is not to only expose children and adults to the arts but to also use the arts a teaching tool so that children, teachers, and adults can make connections to art, science, math, and social studies in unique and profound new ways.
