Help Typhoon
Haiyan Survivors

Dear Friend,

Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation has already launched its disaster relief effort for Typhoon Haiyan survivors in the Philippines
. A first shipment of 30,000 blankets and 60,000 instant rice meals departed for the disaster region on November 12. On November 13, volunteer disaster assessment and medical teams traveled from Manila to the disaster region to begin the first stage of disaster assessment and relief for survivors. The medical team, comprised of 10 doctors and nurses from Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA), will help provide immediate medical services to those who need them. Following initial assessment, volunteers will provide care and relief according to the specific needs of disaster survivors.

Typhoon Haiyan, one of the most powerful typhoons ever recorded, left behind a wide swath of destruction as it raged through the Philippines last week. Death toll estimates are above 2,500, and as rescue efforts have been slowed by the enormous scope of the disaster region, casualties may continue to rise. More than half a million people have been left without homes, in dire need of food, clean drinking water, and medical care.

Dharma Master Cheng Yen reminds us, "The untroubled should look after the suffering." At this moment, we should be grateful that our families are safe, our lives peaceful, and our society harmonious, so that we have this opportunity to share our blessings with others. Let us gather our kind thoughts and compassion together.

To help us help the survivors of typhoon Haiyan
, please
donate through our website or through our donor hotline: (888) 989-8244 (9am-6pm PST). You will find continuous updates about the relief efforts on Tzu Chi USA website.

Gratefully,
Han Huang, CEO of Tzu Chi Foundation USA
