Charting the intersection of rural America and contemporary graphic design 'Typeface', a film by Justine Nagan, tells the story of the Hamilton printing factory, a small museum and letterpress print shop in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
Located in the rural Midwest, the printing factory comes alive one weekend every month, as carloads of designers drive in from across the Midwest. Machines hum and presses roll as international artists meet retired craftsmen and together navigate the convergence of modern design and traditional technique.
The museum's existence is critical to the worldwide design community who are passionate about the history of their craft and its function in the contemporary field.
'Typeface' brings this fascinating junction of historical and contemporary together, celebrating the work of a community that believe the future of their industry may lie in its past.
