Event Details

The theme for this, the fourth annual meeting of TYCA-GA is “Buzzwords that Work.” All of us have heard them: engagement, active learning, flipped classroom, sustainability, project-based learning, service learning, community-based learning, hybrids, retention and transfer, faculty advising--and at least ten others that we could name.  Is there a particular buzzword that you have implemented successfully?  If so, please consider presenting your findings and sharing information at TYCA-GA.

The committee is interested in reading proposals for individual and panel presentations that concern themselves with new and engaging classroom practices. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to

  • Assignments that take students out of traditional classroom settings
  • Service/Active/Project-based learning
  • Problem-based learning strategies
  • Hurdles/challenges that you see that hinder engagement
  • Engaging uses of technologies
  • Advising and retention strategies
  • Any other methodology that you have implemented successfully.

Proposals should be approximately 250 words and e-mailed in .doc or. rtf format by September 30, 2014 to Deborah.Byrd@gpc.edu or Jane.Hercules@gpc.edu
Add “TYCA-GA Proposal” to “Subject” line.

The conference fee is $10 and will cover registration, the TYCA-GA annual membership fee, and a light brunch.

All faculty who teach freshman and sophomore classes (regardless of discipline or two or four-year college designation) are invited to attend and to submit proposals.
