More than anything, Live in the Grey (liveinthegrey.com) is about bringing life and reflection to the journey toward fulfillment, success and happiness. To that end, we are hosting our very first meetup to connect with, share, and learn from our budding community. We are gathering three brilliant minds from across different industries to talk about how they overcome some of the challenges they face in turning a passion into a full time job. And we will also share some of the most important lessons learned from embracing risk.
Our first guest is Grammy nominated musician, Emily King (@emilykingmusic, www.emilykingmusic.com). Emily will talk about starting young in the music industry, parting ways with a major label, and overcoming the challenges of continuing her work independently.
Also joining us is Chris Diken, Director Brand Messaging at Vimeo. Chris has a hand in everything at Vimeo from writing, editing, new product ideas, product launches, and content management to site design, social media and beyond. He's also the Founder of Uninhabitable Mansions, a record label and art collective based in Brooklyn. Chris will talk about some of the fun and exciting projects he's helped spearhead as well as what happens when things fall apart.
Melissa Rosenthal, Managing Creative Strategist (and Cat Expert) at Buzzfeed will also lend her perspective from starting as un unpaid contributor to eventually landing a role as a creative strategist and managing a team. She will also share how she helps make branded content easy on the eyes and the worst advice she's ever received.
