Linus Karlsson is Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of McCann New York, and one of the advertising industry’s most respected and honored creative executives. Before he joined McCann Erickson in February 2011 he worked at Mother New York, which he co-founded in 2003.
Mr. Karlsson began his advertising career in 1990 as a founding member of Paradiset, a Swedish start-up agency later acquired by DDB. There, he was part of the team that created the celebrated campaign for Diesel Jeans, which went on to win a Grand Prix at Cannes, and later was inducted into the Clio Hall of Fame. In 1996, Linus Karlsson moved to Fallon in the U.S, working on accounts such as Miller Lite, Virgin Mobile, United Airlines, BMW, and MTV. Seven years later, he opened the doors of Mother NY, which was named Creativity’s Agency of the Year in 2009.
Linus Karlsson has won numerous Gold in Cannes as well as in most top global creative festivals. He created one of the “20 best American ad campaigns ever” for MTV, according to Creativity Magazine, which also named him as one of the “50 most influential creative people in the world”, and the Museum of Modern Art has selected his work for their archives. In addition to his creative roles in New York and London, Mr. Karlsson is a member of McCann’s Creative Leadership Collective, a Board member of the One Club, The World Childhood Foundation, and an active Board member of The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York.
