Event Details

TIR Training Workshop

This workshop covers the nature of trauma, the consequences of traumatic incidents, and the Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) technique.  TIR is a one-on-one, highly structured yet person-centered approach used to resolve the emotional charge contained within traumas. It has the potential to eliminate permanently the negative after-effects of traumatic incidents in a brief amount of time. The workshop also teaches how past traumas are triggered, and how unwanted feelings, emotions, sensations, attitudes, and pains (“themes”) resulting from past trauma can be traced back to their origins and eliminated. The workshop also teaches Unblocking; a technique that is highly useful in preparing a client for TIR and for handling issues that are not directly trauma-related. Unblocking can be applied to broad areas of life (e.g. “your marriage”, “your job”, etc.).

This workshop is appropriate for all levels of practicing social workers, psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, clergy, and critical incident stress debriefers.

Prerequisites: None

Price includes: 13% HST, workshop instruction and materials.  Please note that the $850 rate currently advertised is for Early Bird Registration and available only until September 23rd, 2016.  After that date, the rate will increase to $950 for Standard Registration should workshop spots still remain available.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The cost of parking is not included in the workshop fee.  Parking is available in an Impark lot in front of the building at a cost of $10 per day on weekdays, and $3 per day on weekends (subject to change without notice).  Free street parking may be available on weekends in the surrounding residential areas but participants are advised to park on the street at their own risk.

Are there any nearby accomodations in the area?

For any attendees that may be coming in from out of town, there are multiple hotels in Ottawa’s nearby downtown core that would be situated within walking distance of the workshop’s location.  Some hotels to consider:

The Ottawa Marriott Hotel (approx 20-25 minute walk from hotel to workshop location):  http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/yowmc-ottawa-marriott-hotel/

Best Western Plus Victoria Park Suites (approx 10 minute walk from hotel to workshop location):  http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/CA/ON/Ottawa-hotels/BEST-WESTERN-PLUS-Victoria-Park-Suites/Hotel-Overview.do?propertyCode=66059
