Legal Review of Recent California Transportation and Land Use
Rulings and Legislation
Come learn about recent court rulings and the application of new legislation to transportation and land use planning. The ever-evolving legal and legislative landscape affects how planners and transportation professionals conduct CEQA review and develop projects. Andrea Ruiz-Esquide, Deputy City Attorney for the City of San Francisco, will talk about SB 743, which signals the end of auto level-of-service thresholds for projects within transit priority areas. Barbara Schussman, a land use attorney at Perkins and Cole LLP, will discuss the Neighbors for Smart Rail decision which addressed the use of a future “baseline condition” in CEQA review. Sara Clark, an attorney from Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger LLP, will discuss recent developments in federal law. Please come with your questions for this engaging panel discussion.
