Tour de Marin blends safe, sane and scenic routes with wholesome foods and incredible support - And no one is left behind!
There is one volunteer for every 10 riders, four well-stocked rest stations and a post-ride party in the Whole Foods parking lot! There is plenty of parking, two pre-ride check-in events and some of the most inspiring landscape in the country. This year we offer two route options, the traditional 38-mile route and a new metric century 66-mile route.
Here’s what you get for your contribution to MCBC:
- Cycle through scenic west Marin and enjoy new bike lanes built with your support!
- Well-stocked rest stations, SAG support, ride leaders and sweeps, and clearly marked courses
- Post-ride Taco Party and expo, with free lunch, cold beer, free samples, music and goodie bags
Year after year our post-ride surveys have a favorable 90%+ approval rating (97% in 2014), come see why! See photos from last year's ride at Tour de Marin Photo Album.
Route details: Both the 38-mile and 66-mile courses will leave the San Rafael Whole Foods Market heading west through San Anselmo, Fairfax and the San Geronimo Valley to the Nicasio Valley Cheese Company. After eating and resting at the Nicasio energizer station:
38-mile riders will head to Lucas Valley for a climb over Big Rock, then head south with a trip around China Camp State Park.
66-mile riders will head to the Petaluma Road, turn east on San Antonio Road, head south through Olompali State Park and then head west passing Stafford Lake Park back to Nicasio. From there they will head to the Lucas Valley for a climb over Big Rock and then head south back to the San Rafael Whole Foods Market.
(See Route Maps Below)
All ride levels welcome, no one is left behind. The ride is well supported, with ride leaders, sweepers, course marshals and SAG (support and gear) wagon courtesy of Mike's Bikes. MINI of Marin will provide a pace and SAG vehicle, Mt.Tam Express Countryman. And there will be plenty of great wholesome food along the route and at the finish!
Tour de Marin proceeds will support MCBC's work to expand Marin's bicycle network of safe bike lanes, pathways, bridges, tunnels and trails.
The first 250 people to register will receive a FREE 2015 Tour de Marin T-shirt thanks to Whole Foods Market.
You'll experience Marin’s network of safe bike lanes and pathways, and enjoy scenic visits, like Big Rock and the Nicasio energizer station. Check back soon for route details.
