Tool Training: Bike Shop
Somerville, United States
This free introduction to the bike shop area is required for any Asylum member to use the SCUL bike shop. The hour-long tour will introduce members to the space, the tools available for use by Asylum members, and the SCUL equipment that is off-limits to non-SCUL users of the space. In addition to walking "civilians" through the shared spaces, the class will introduce procedures such as damage tagging, and answer questions like "what is orbital debris anyway?"
Students will be introduced the Ft. Tyler space, gain a full understanding of the equipment available for "civilian" use, as well as the services provided by SCUL for members and how they can learn more about bike repair and maintenance.
Artisan's Asylum membership.
“Seven” as she’s commonly known, has learned her bicycle maintenance skills through a combination of Broadway Bicycle School training, and spending inordinate amounts of time around SCUL headquarters (a positive bicycle chopper gang). Seven maintains a small fleet of “normal” bicycles, has built and maintained her own modified bicycles, and she likes to read bicycle repair manuals for kicks. Seven enjoys maintenance best when her SCUL comrades get together and ask her two or three “how do I…” questions at once. She’s also keen on hot yoga, meditation, making electronics go, and treasures playtime with friends.
Tours are available on weekly on Wednesdays, from 6-7pm. Please register for a January Wednesday above. If you want to use the bike shop and are not available at that time, please contact info [at] artisansasylum [dot] com to arrange for an alternative tour time.
