These local filmmakers take on al Qaeda, black holes, human trafficking, unruly dinner guests, and the quirks of assimilation in this program featuring some of Miami’s most talented cinephiles. Keep an eye out Miamian’s – you may just recognize some familiar places and faces!


Aurora – Dir: Sara Werner – NARRATIVE - 0:15:34 – USA

Mya is a young woman on her own personal journey, which quickly becomes a complex story as we learn that earlier in her life she was kidnapped, and sexually abused. We meet Mya six years later trying to start a family with the Doctor (Tobi) who saved her life. Mya is given an address by her partner Tobi who encourages her to visit this place. Mya finally acquiesces and begins the journey when she accepts that the past is drowning her present light.

A college student's perception becomes twisted and deformed by unforeseen forces. Based on true events.

With a black hole heading in the direction of Earth, the planet is doomed. Jacob has one last call to make before it is all said and done. In the final moments before impact he battles against the ticking clan and his past mistakes.

A Glorious Day – Dir: Federigo Arango – NARRATIVE - 0:15:01 – USA

Self-styled al Qaeda jihadist and suicide-bomber Raul is afflicted with cerebral-palsy as he reads his mission instructions and puts the last touches on the explosive vest with which he will sacrifice himself and kill as many people as he can in Miami, without knowing that his only friend Angela is just a few feet from him. 'A Glorious Day' shows a part of a feature film entitled 'Lone Wolves', which would explore the tragic lives of a handful of young suicide bombers in New York, Miami, Madrid, Paris, London, Kabul, Islamabad, Nairobi and Manila.

Miami short Film Festival

12th Annual Miami short Film Festival

This year, the festival will run simultaneously from Friday, November 8 to Friday, November 15 in the bayfront oasis of Historic Coconut Grove at our main venue, The Paragon Grove 13 Theater and at Miami Beach Cinemateque.

A Film Festival based in Miami, Florida that features short films (30-minutes or less each.)

  1. A growing movement to exhibit and expand the art form of short filmmaking
  2. A venue to engage the local community.
Our Philosophy:  Short films, past and present, are true works of art, and deserve a venue dedicated to their exhibition. 

Our mission is to present quality films from around the world. As well as support, recognize and honor our filmmakers for their visionary excellence in creating a films under 30 minutes.

Serving as South Florida’s only short film festival, MsFF was founded to showcase Miami as a leader in contemporary filmmaking, and aims to exhibit the most captivating and innovative short content. In the process, MsFF hopes to build an audience for short film as well as indulge it’s current dedicated followers. For two weeks every fall thousands will flock to Miami for the screening of over 80 films from around the world, that have been organized “thematically” to give each shorts block an identity, and each audience member a reason to return night after night.

The Miami Short Film Festival is a dedicated contributor to the cultural arts, economy, and education of Miami-Dade County. Through a highly effective strategic partnership model, MsFF has introduced its unique programs and programming year-round into theaters, classrooms, businesses, and organizations throughout Miami-Dade County.
