Introduction to digital SLR (single lens reflex, means that you can change lenses and you look through a viewfinder) photography.
In this class you will receive instruction as well as hands on camera use and feedback. After this class you will have an understanding of what the numbers and buttons on your camera mean and what they do. More importantly you will know how to use them to take better pictures! Here is a summary of what we will be covering:
- Photographic triangle (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO).
- What lenses or focal lengths to use when.
- How to get sharp and in focus pictures more often.
- White balance basics.
- What is exposure and how get more pictures correctly exposed.
- Basic flash operation.
What you will need to bring with you for class:
- Your camera!
- Any lenses that you have.
- A memory card.
- Your flash (if you have an external one).
- Something to write with and on!
- A love for photography and a willingness to learn!
Class is for 2 hours and includes access to the flikr.com group page where you will be able to upload your pictures for discussion and critique.

Tommy Daspit is a professional photographer with over 20 years of experience. He has worked as a photojournalist, commerical, portrait, and wedding photographer. Originaly from New Orleans, Tommy has lived throught the country and internationally. He now lives in the Birmingham, Alabama area with his wife and three children.
