Do you have three hours to experience how 37 million Americans live?
Please join members of Tocqueville Society and Women United for a Poverty Simulation designed to help participants begin to understand what it may be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive month-to-month.
The objective of this experience is to sensitize us to the day-to-day realities of life faced by people who are on the edge of homelessness. The experience will take place in "Realville, U.S.A." and will attempt to replicate the realities of life in our city. Each participant will be assigned a role and given information regarding their assets, debts, job situation and family constellation.
At the end of this eye-opening experience, we will share reflctions on the experience and highlight the work that is being done to help address poverty in the greater Indianapolis area.
Registration and light breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. Poverty Simulation begins promptly at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 12 p.m.
