Please arrive to the training at 9:00am for breakfast and check-in. The training promptly begins at 9:30am. A buffet lunch will be served. Free parking is available on-site.

This dynamic and fun workshop will bring to life an understanding of what Play Therapy is (and is not), the history of play therapy and where it stands currently, the theoretical models of play, and its validity as an Expressive Therapy for trauma.

You will learn the difference between play therapy and therapeutic play, the importance of intervention integrity when implementing each, and the ethical responsibilities associated with using this modality of care for traumatized children - and adults.

After being introduced to the “science” of play, you will then spend the rest of your time learning a Trauma-Sensitive integrative approach along with multiple experiential interventions that you can begin to integrate into your practice immediately.

Information will also be available for how to become a Registered Play Therapist and how you can become part of the International Play Therapy Community.

  Trainer: Cherie Spehar

Presenter Cherie Spehar, L.C.S.W., C.T.C.-S., R.P.T.-S. is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Facilitator, Play Therapist, and Certified Trauma Specialist in Apex, NC.
