Titanic Memorial Dinner
Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 6:00 PM (CDT)
With the popularity of the 1990s film and the approach of the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of RMS Titanic, re-telling the stories has become a cottage industry. Included among those tales are the biographies of various people associated with the event, especially First Class passengers who perished. While the basic facts of their lives are well known, few are aware of multi-generational back-stories that anticipate the personal courage of men already renowned since that day, men who abandoned theory for action regarding The Law of the Sea—“women and children first.”
The evening's events will be hosted in Liberty Hall at The American Village in Montevallo, AL. Liberty Hall was patterned after the East Room in The White House.
Dinner will be served buffet style and reminiscent of the food served aboard the Titanic. A special children's table will have various finger foods as well.
Bill Potter, Scholar in Residence at Vision Forum, will bring us a special message celebrating the memory of specific passengers aboard the Titanic who sacrificed their own lives to save others.
Sam Turley will be sharing his love for history and historical ballads with us in a special time of music during the event.
