Event Details

Please join the Timber Framers Guild for the 2014 National Conference in beautiful southern New Hampshire.  Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is easily accessible by car, plane, or motorcycle. It is just off of I93 and only 15 minutes from the Manchester/Boston Regional Airport (MHT). Free parking is availble throughout the SNHU campus.  Lodging will be in new, air conditioned dormitories. Most rooms are double occupancy, some with shared baths. A few single rooms are available at an additional fee of $150. (Contact the Guild office to request a single supplement.) There are also triple and quad rooms for families. All dormitories have kitchens and lounge areas and are within easy walking distance to all meeting rooms and dining area.

The program this year is outstanding.  Preconference events and seminars including the TTRAG historical building tour will take place all day on Thursday, August 7, beginning at 8:00 am.  The regular conference, which is included in the full conference registration, begins Friday, August 8, with breakfast and continues through the Ken Burns presentation on Sunday. Will Beemer has put together an impressive and varied lineup of presentations and speakers. There will also be an update on the Guild’s Apprenticeship program, the always popular Veteran Voices presentation, a plan review, a TFG members meeting, the TFG slide show on Friday evening, the always interesting TFG benefit auction on Saturday evening, Charlotte & Bill with the Summerbeam Bookstore, a tool swap, and the TFBC trade fair (starting Friday morning).

We are very fortunate to have Ken Burns, the renowned documentary film director/producer, as our featured speaker on Sunday morning.  Thank you to Tedd & Christine Benson for helping make that possible.  Ken Burns will be the first speaker in the Levin Lectureship Series, which honors Ed Levin, a dedicated and devoted founding father of the Timber Framers Guild and an inspiration to so many.

We look forward to seeing you there.

“We call ourselves timber framers, but at bottom our success is measured and our legacy made as placemakers. Does the work we do leave the world a more beautiful and functional place? When you open the door to the space and step in for the first time, is there a small involuntary intake of breath? Does it make you smile?” - Ed Levin
