Please join us for 20 Years of Opportunity, a celebration of the doors that open when we say “yes” to someone’s dream. Taking place on October 18th, 2014 in historic downtown Redwood City, this event will draw 250 Opportunity Fund supporters—investors, philanthropists, civic leaders and food lovers—for a 5-star experience of culinary delights, networking, cocktails and live music. It’s a chance to go out, while giving back: proceeds benefit Opportunity Fund’s microfinance clients.
Friends at the celebration will have the chance to “taste” the impact of microfinance as 'Opportunity Funded' gourmet food trucks line up along Broadway Street, showcasing the many flavors and talents of Silicon Valley’s hottest business ventures on wheels! Guests will then enjoy a special meal prepared by acclaimed local chef Rebecca Allonzi of Rebecca Jean Catering during a sit-down dinner under a clear big-top tent on Courthouse Square. Opportunity Fund’s supporters helped provide a microloan to her catering business in 2010—now, four years later, Rebecca is ready to give back to those who gave so much to her when she was starting out.
Together, we will celebrate 20 years of investments in economic mobility by Opportunity Fund in the Bay Area and beyond. At this special event, we will honor many of the Silicon Valley giants who have given their time, talent and treasure to help more than 15,000 people advance their own economic well-being over the past two decades!
Plus, we’ll have the chance to see Opportunity Fund founder and CEO in a slightly different role, as the Eric Weaver Quartet will open the evening’s festivities! When he isn’t focused on expanding economic opportunity for California, our CEO likes to jam on the guitar with his band mates.
