Thriller in Schiller 5k Trail Race
Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM (CDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Run. Drink. Be Happy.
The inaugural Thriller in Schiller is a 5k trail race followed by music, locally crafted beer, and food. We know that you’re already sold just by reading that, but we’ll continue with our description.
The 5k course will take you over downed trees, through the woods, over creeks, and through mud (check out the photos on our Google+ and Facebook page). The course is half single track and half wider trails and will be very well marked. It’s a great course for those new to trail running, but also challenging enough for the seasoned trail runner.
All participants will receive a bib, race t-shirt, and a customized Thriller in Schiller pint glass.
There will be a "Best Costume" contest following the race, so be sure to dress to the nines!
After the race you can fill your pint glass with locally crafted beer, which will be available for purchase. We will also have music and food so that you can hang out and relax. Beer and food are the top two reasons you run in the first place, so you may as well treat yourself.
The race will begin at 10am on Sunday, October 28, 2012. Da Bears don’t play until 12pm that day, so you’ll have plenty of time to run, have a few beers, and get your game face on.
The start/finish/festival area is conveniently located right off of Irving Park Road in Chicago (detailed directions will be emailed to all participants a week before the race).
Registration is only $25. Online registration will close on Wednesday, October 24 at 11:00pm CST. The race will be capped at 300 runners, so make sure to sign up soon. If there are open spots following the registration deadline then we will have race day registration for $30.
When & Where
We love people. We love Chicago. We love trail running. And we love good beer. We thought it would be a good idea to combine them all. Why not, right?
Our goal is to provide Chicagoland with the best possible trail running experience. From the course design to the staff at the aid stations to the beer served at the after party, our #1 goal is for you to have the best time possible.
We are partnering with local small businesses in the Chicagoland area to start a series of trail races beginning in the fall of 2012.
Hope to see you on the trail soon!
