Bark vs. bite? The assessment for violence potential is often complicated by a myriad of issues involving disruptive, predatory and threatening behaviors. Attendees will be trained on initial threat assessments involving threat posturing, preparatory behaviors and rehearsal fantasies, along with warning signs of predatory behaviors such as unwanted pursuit and digital malice. There will also be an overview of OSHA’s first-ever written enforcement instructions regarding incidents of workplace violence. Intermediate to advance content will be presented on:
Identifying threatening behaviors
Investigations & threat assessments
Mitigating the threat of workplace violence
Overview of OSHA’s “Enforcement Procedures for Investigating or Inspecting Workplace Violence Incidents” directive
Dr. Manny Tau is a clinical and forensic psychologist specializing in investigation, assessment and mitigation of problematic to dangerous behaviors in the workplace. He has over 16 years of field experience and has been extensively used as a workplace/school-place/personal violence and threat management consultant for many recognized federal, state, county, city and private organizations throughout the United States. Dr. Tau also provides training and consultation services for Human Resources & Risk Management professionals and expert testimony for attorneys in the Labor & Employment and Civil law arenas. He is an experienced and dynamic trainer, an often requested speaker for local and state professional Human Resources, Risk Management and Law organizations and has appeared in newsprint, radio, television, and internet media. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals – San Diego Chapter, and has served on the Board of Directors for the California Psychological Association.
