Interspersed with the performer’s insightful, touching and often funny revelations are classic raps, freestyle rhymes, and never before heard a capellas straight from the mouths of the creators. What emerges is a better understanding of, and a tribute to, and original American art form that brought poetry to a new generation.
The film features Afrika, Common, Doug E. Fresh, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Ice Cube, Kanye West, Kool Keith, Kool Moe Dee, MC Lyte, Nas, Q-Tip, Snoop Dog, Xzibit and Yasiin (formerly known as Mos Def) along with many more of rap’s most influential artists. The DVD, from Indomnia Films, will be released the week of the screening.
