Frontline Engineering: The Achilles Heel of Modern Organizations
The science of organizational success is well known, but the implementation stumps most organizational leaders. Companies provide innovative products that connect with and solve customer problems, but engineering for success is more complicated. Models of organizational  engineering that endow organizations with frontline advantage are scarce. Professor Singh’s talk will draw on this theme of engineering for success (ES) and center on frontlines for focus.

Singh’s research program addresses these issues with emphasis on marketing frontlines where revenue focus is on customers, and deployable assets are human resources and connecting technologies. He will present his work on challenges of last mile and first mile engineering of marketing frontlines. The last mile concerns how organizations address productivity-quality paradoxes in satisfying unexpected needs of heterogeneous customers. The first mile concerns how organizations capture new knowledge from customer interactions to promote bottom up learning and catalyze organizational renewal. He will also present evidence of payoffs for organizations that effectively harness and cultivate capabilities for frontline engineering.

A networking reception with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will take place following the discussion.

Please note that this event was rescheduled from Friday, February 28 when a power-outage in the downtown area affected our venue. We thank you for your patience in the interim.
