The word of the day is PLAY! Come to the Bayfront and enjoy a no-holds-barred day of playing and scrimmaging in the Theatresports format. The coaches will give you a basic introduction to the theatresports format, leading exercises and games that highlight particularities of the work, and then lead players through rounds of theatresports. Each player will get lots of chances to get up on stage, playing in small teams, feeling out the rhythm of the format, the demands of a competitive structure, and how to stay in touch with your inspiration within the structure of Theatresports.
This workshop is perfect for you if you're going to be playing in the July Student Theatresports Tournament, AND is a wonderful chance to have a ball on stage even if you're not involved in the tournament.
Created by Keith Johnstone, Theatresports is one of BATS' signature formats, and a wonderful tool for an improviser. Encouraging big risks, playful mischief, and teamwork, the format has withstood the test of time and is played all over the world.
