The World Bank Africa Film Series: Scoring for Peace
Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (EDT)
Scoring for Peace is the story of three men whose lives have been beset by conflict in their countries, but whose spirits help transform them and their communities.
This compelling documentary follows Ismael, Safari and Okello, three footballers from Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda, on their quest to win Africa's first Great Lakes Peace Cup. As they prepare for the tournament, our heroes rely on their own personal skills and dreams, but they also learn to support in their teammates, many of them former fighters in some of Africa's most harrowing conflicts.
Through the healing power of sports, Ismael, Safari and Okello find a way to put aside their differences and unite around their common passion for fooball.
