The Voice in Your Head

Fear is a powerful thing - and unique in the fact that whether it be rational or irrational is not relevant. The horror that is experienced in these films runs just as deep as a mother searching for her lost child in ‘Peekaboo’, as it does for Bobby in Velvet Road, as he follows a trail of blood in a post-apocalyptic world.

El Silencio de Verónica – Dir: Martin Castaneda – NARRATIVE - 0:15:59 – USA/PERU

A single mother struggles to make her daughter happy on her birthday.

FOXED! – Dir: James Stewart – ANIMATION - 0:03:30 – CANADA

Emily has been Foxed! in this 3D stop-motion tale of human rights and fighting for what you believe in. Filmed in stunning 3D over a two-year period, Director James Stewart crafts a cautionary tale about child labor, growing up in an environment of parental control, and how children are often portrayed in the eyes of their parents.

Secretos Conocidos – Dir: James Joint - NARRATIVE - 0:16:00 – HONDURAS/FRANCE

Jesus buys and sells little girls and hates himself for it. Frank abuses little boys even though they are his family, and the Judge tries to stop it all. We know them all, they are our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and friends, and yet it all remains such a big secret known by us all...

Tremor Low - 'Kingmaker' – Dir: Hart Perez – MUSIC VIDEO - 0:03:53 – USA

Complimenting the gothic tone of Tremor Low's single 'Kingmaker,' the Perez Brothers have crafted a film that functions equally as both a music video and a horror film. During interviews, the Perez Brothers have described the film as A Freudian re-imaging of The Exorcist. Watch it if you dare!

The Scan – Dir: Esta Spalding – Narrative – 0:06:28 – CANADA

In quest for a diagnosis, Anna Moss enters an MRI machine. Doing so brings us into the world of her memories and an all too real and familiar experience becomes surreal. The Scan raises provocative questions about where we store and record psychic and physical trauma.

Peekaboo – Dir: Damien Power – NARRATIVE - 0:10:00 – AUSTRALIA

When a toddler goes missing in a car park, her mother fears she has been abducted.

Devil’s Temptation – Dir: Neryong Ci – 00: 06: 40 – SOUTH KOREA

A customer enters a store, The Land of the Free, and is guided by a mysterious employee who lures him into a signing a consent letter in place of a drink that promises ultimate freedom.

Velvet Road – Dir: L. Gustavo Cooper – NARRATIVE - 0:14:00 – USA

In the racially charged South of the 1960's, the black population of a small town is blamed for the spread of a virulent plague.  Bobby, a white mechanic, is racing through the countryside with his wife Carolyne.  She was bitten by one of those infected and is fading fast.  Awakening in a wrecked car with Carolyne missing, Bobby follows a trail of blood down the road towards a fateful encounter and an unthinkable choice.
