The U.S. Housing Recovery: Lessons from Florida

The American Action Forum will host a panel discussion in Orlando on the devastating downturn of the housing market and painful recovery currently facing our nation. Florida’s housing markets and greater economy have been among the hardest hit. Despite having some of the highest foreclosure rates in the country, Florida is beginning to see some improvement. What can Florida’s story teach us? Will the housing market recovery be a priority after the election?

Join us for a complimentary breakfast as we hear from Senator Mel Martinez, former Florida Senator and HUD Secretary, and an exciting group of experts including Douglas Holtz-Eakin, former Director of the Congressional Budget Office; Dean Asher, President-Elect of the Florida Association of Realtors; Paul “Buz” C. Ausley, Jr., HUD Orlando Field Office Director; Stanley Geberer, Senior Associate at Fishkind & Associates Economic Consultants; Sean Snaith, Director of the University of Central Florida’s Institute for Economic Competitiveness; Chris Mayer, Professor of Real Estate at Columbia University Business School; and Stan Humphries, Chief Economist of Zillow. Both panels will be moderated by Mary Shanklin of the Orlando Sentinel.

The keynote and both panels will include an audience question and answer session.
