The Tampa Bay Food System: Planning for Prosperity

In recognition of the 2014 Community Planning Month promoted by the American Planning Association, University of Florida/IFAS Extension, University of South Florida, and the American Planning Association Florida Sun Coast Section will host a short workshop to explore opportunities to strengthen the Tampa Bay food system.
This year's national theme is "Health and Prosperity" and a vibrant local food system contributes to a strong local economy and a healthy community. Learn how Tampa Bay area planners, researchers and organizations are supporting the local food system.
The target audience for this workshop includes local government officials, non-government organizations, students, and other professional audiences. A valid student ID will be required to attend the event and must be shown when you check-in at the registration desk.
Topics include: Food Trucks & Fiestas - Tampa Downtown Partnership, New Extension Initiatives: Farm-to-School - UF/IFAS Extension, Tampa Bay Food Policies: New Research on Local Codes - USF and Civic Agriculture: The Role of Grassroots Organizations - Local Food Park, Transition Sarasota and Sweetwater Organic Farm.
