The First Spring Harvest Dinner of The South Durham Farmers' Market will present an amazing bounty of fresh produce, meats, and much more, all from the vendors and farmers you have come to know, and love, at our market. The wonderfully talented Chef Jefe and his staff at Pop's Backdoor South will be creating a bright, seasonal, and inspiring menu with the spring harvest of our farmers. The event will begin with wine and appetizers at 6pm, and be followed by the seated dinner around 6:40pm. We plan on having some of our farmers and vendors in attendance, so feel free to mingle with them and get to know your farmers a bit better! We want this to be the first of many events bringing together the South Durham community with our market, to celebrate the vibrant food culture that has developed around it, and start discussions, friendships, and more. Spring Harvest Dinner Menu
First Course: Appetizer of and Greek flatbread served with marinated feta, chard, spring onions and cherry peppers accompanied by sparkling wine
Second Course: Eggs and salad: egg crepe covered with spring lettuce, asparagus, pea shoots, chevre and a pecan vinaigrette.
Third Course: Soup, choice of: turnip soup with truffle creme, mushroom and brie topping; or Tuscan tomato with crostini.
Fourth Course: Fresh gnocchi with spinach/arugula pesto.
Main Course: Choice of: Chicken under brick, honeyed sweet potato puree, and five-spice red wine braised cabbage.
OR Peppers stuffed with roasted garlic, mushroom and spinach, creamy polenta with Remesco sauce, and spring vegetable.
Dessert: Assorted sorbet and aperitif.
