Event Details

The Drexel Smart House is requesting the attendance of students, alumni, faculty and industry professionals at the Smart Affair on November 22, 2013 from 6-9p.m. at the Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building.

The LEED Gold certified venue is home to North America’s largest living biowall, the only such structure at a U.S. university. This 75-ft. high wall of plants, serves as a biological air filter, demonstrating Drexel’s longstanding commitment to sustainability and progressive research.

The night will begin with an informative presentation that will provide the first opportunity for supporters to learn about Drexel Smart House's recent progress and future innovations.

Following the information session, we invite you to join us for a cocktail reception with entertainment by Drexel University's a cappella groups. We encourage you to capture the evening, make sure you stop by the event photo-booth. There will also be a high-end fundraising raffle with all proceeds benefiting the Drexel Smart House. The dress code for this evening will be cocktail attire.

Drexel Smart House

Drexel Smart House (DSH) is a student-led, faculty-supported, multidisciplinary initiative to develop a sustainable model for urban residential living and entrepreneurial innovation. Founded in 2006, DSH has since procured a 4,900-square-foot, 19th century Victorian twin home in Powelton Village, which will be renovated to redefine urban living through the use of sustainable technologies and dynamic environments. The new Drexel Smart Initiatives Program (DSIP) is housed within the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, the project now engages students, faculty and staff from all of Drexel's colleges. Participants conduct research and develop designs in the areas of environment, energy, interaction, health and lifestyle with the goal of improving quality of life in the urban residential setting.
