Event Details

Three years in progress, Ijeoma D. Iheanacho has been paving the way for the next generation of Black women with the quintessential visual arts exhibit, The reImagining. With 75 women and counting, the project is on its way to becoming the entity that will change the way Black women are viewed in society forever.

As an appreciation for your participating in history, The reImagining is hosting a mixer for all of the women to meet, greet, and enjoy good food and drinks. This is the time to create a network with the intention to embrace each other projects, businesses, and careers and learn how you could help The reImagining go forward.

2013 is the year to make this project go mainstream and have your voice heard. Join us and let's bring the reImagining into the national conversation!

The reImagining

The reImagining is an exhibition conceived out of frustration. Frustration born out of not seeing myself, and those that look like me and have lived my experiences, adequately represented in mainstream media, culture, and society. How do you begin to talk about an identity that is placed on you? For Black women, that has always been the question. The reImagining is being created to give black women the right to determine for themselves the images they want representing them, and thus establish and distribute their own identities. The photography created for this show will be the opportunity for 100 Black women to reclaim their identities not just from the world, but for themselves.
