Employees do not check all of their privacy rights at the door on day one of employment. Nevertheless, employers can, and often do, intrude upon the private affairs of employees. Sometimes, this is even proper and lawful! Regulating private, even off-duty conduct to require conformity with employer expectations may be appropriate under certain circumstances. But once employers obtain private information it must be kept confidential. This lively discussion will touch upon such topics as workplace romances, drug and alcohol testing, surveillance, monitoring internet and email use, searches, social media, investigations, medical information, pre-employment screening, and others of interest to employers in Oregon.
Instructor: Jennifer Germundson is the manager of the Bureau of Labor and Industries Technical Assistance for Employers Program. Prior to joining BOLI in 2006, Jennifer was a field office manager with the Oregon Employment Department. Her background includes human resource management, labor relations, unemployment insurance adjudication, and recruitment.

Clatsop County Oregon Employer Council
The Oregon Employer Council is a partnership between WorkSource NW Oregon Employment Department and Local area employers. In Oregon there are over twenty council's at this time. In Clatsop County's Oregon Employer Council (OEC) consist of local employers that volunteer their own time to participate on this council. The OEC includes a variety of local employers from different industries. This results in providing WorkSource NW Oregon Employment Department input on what this area needs in terms of employees and training opportunities. CCEC and OEC are recognized as leaders in creating opportunities and providing a voice for business in local areas through out Oregon.
