The Reach of War - webcast on the Syrian conflict
Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM (EDT)
Join Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) for an online discussion about the current situation in Syria and neighboring countries affected by the war. A panel of three experienced MSF aid workers recently returned from assignments with MSF's emergency response to the crisis will share their views and experiences.
Tara Newell, a member of MSF's emergency response team who recently finished a year-long assignment as the head of mission for Syria, which frequently took her inside the country's borders. She also recently conducted an exploratory mission inside Iraq to determine the medical needs on the ground, and help shape MSF's humanitarian response.
Dr. Amber Alayyan, a physician who spent nine months as the medical team leader at MSF's hospital in Ramtha, Jordan, just across the border from Syria, where the MSF team treats war wounded and refugees fleeing the conflict.
Dr. Deane Marchbein, an MSF anesthesiologist and president of the board of directors for Doctors Without Borders in the United States, who traveled to Syria in 2013 to help treat those affected by the war.
