RAKKAS WORKSHOPSRAKKAS WORKSHOPS
TICK TOCK AND PENDULUM SWING: MIXED LEVEL 12:00pm-1:30pm
In this workshop, we will review basic/intermediate movement vocabulary of Oriental & Tribal styles of bellydance & break them down on an almost microscopic level. We will explore how to punctuate, stagger, & strobe these moves with ticks, pops, & locks. We will then explore how to execute dramatic transitions with smooth, swinging weight shifts, level changes, & sharp spins.
FACING THE CROWD: PERFORMANCE TUNING & STAGECRAFT FOR FUSION BELLY DANCE 1:45pm-3:15
In the world of fusion belly dance we have a lot of creative latitude and building your own interpretation for the stage can be intimidating.
In this workshop we will work on fusing theatricality, musicality & emotion with our dance pieces. We will discuss stage fright and how to harness it. I will offer you a set of tools and techniques for creating powerful, authentic dance pieces that communicate your intention effectively and show off your best skill set for your current level of training. We will start with a short warm-up, conditioning and drilling. There will be a class discussion / practice on performance technique. We will discuss the seven points of a dynamic performance (Technique, Music, Musicality, Costume, Makeup, Intention and The Audience) and practice methods for integrating everything from your feelings and your music to, your look and your technique into one cohesive whole. Class length 2 hours Experience level: all What to bring: a yoga mat for stretches, comfortable dance clothing, water, a notepad and one prop that is personal and significant if you wish.
