Event Details

Join BOSTON+acumen as we take a closer look at the issues of water access, water rights and the increasing commoditization of this necessary resource. Light refreshments will be served.
The 2010 UN General Assembly recognized the human right to water and sanitation as a human right with Resolution 64/292. Today, more than 1.2 billion people, or almost one-fifth of the world's population, face water scarcity. This panel, The Price of Water: Right vs. Commodity, will explore the progress and challenges of implementing sustainable technological innovation, and the responsibilities of investors and organizations towards the global water crisis.
  • David S. Abraham, CEO of ClearWater Initiative, whose mission is to provide simple, sustainable solutions for the provision of clean water in northern Uganda.
  • Brooke Barton, Director of Ceres' water program, who directs the organization’s research and corporate and investor engagement on the risks and opportunities related to growing water scarcity.
  • Professor Lee P. Breckenridge teaches courses in environmental law, wildlife and ecosystems law, land use zoning and planning law at Northeastern University.
