Food for Life: Cancer Project

The Power of Food for Cancer Prevention and Survival

Food for Life is an award-winning Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) program designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians that focuses on the lifesaving effects of healthful eating.

Certain diet patterns seem to have a major effect in helping cancer survivors to live longer, healthier lives. Numerous studies have shown that a diet built from plant foods offers the most cancer-fighting protection of any diet plan. Reviews by the American Institute for Cancer Research showed that as much as 40 percent of cancer risk may be related to diet. The Food for Life: Cancer Project classes offer a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge about the link between diet and cancer, experience the benefits of plant-based nutrition, and learn the practical cooking skills needed to help you on your journey to better health.

You will enjoy four weekly classes, each class lasting two hours. Receive cutting edge scientific information on diet, nutrition and disease, as well as a weekly cooking demonstration, along with food sampling of the most delicious and nutritious plant based dishes like Sweet-and-Sour Stir-Fry and Chocolate Mousse with Fresh Fruit.

This is a four-class series beginning on September 5th and continuing each Thursday night through September 26th.

Class 1: Intro to How Foods Fight Cancer Thursday, Sept 5th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Class 2: Fueling Up on Low-Fat, High-Fiber Foods Thursday, Sept 12th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Class 3: Discovering Dairy and Meat Alternatives Thursday, Sept 19th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Class 4: Cancer-Fighting Compounds and Healthy Weight Control Thursday, Sept 26th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

It is best to attend the full series to receive the biggest benefit of this curriculum.  There are a few seats available each week at $35/class if you are unable to attend the full series.

Want to check it out first without committing to the full series?  Attend the first class as an introduction for $35.  You will then have the opportunity to sign up for the remaining 3 classes for $75 after the first class.
