The Other Sequestration: Reducing Atmospheric Carbon Sustainably
Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM (PDT)
Many approaches to address climate change pertain to reducing carbon emissions, but what about the carbon that is already in our atmosphere? This presentation will start with an update on the science and continue with a summary of current technologies and approaches for sequestering carbon above and below ground. The role forests play in terrestrial carbon sequestration, namely through sustainable forest management and timber harvesting, will be discussed. The goal of the program is to provide members of local businesses, legislators and the general public with a clear understanding of ways they can positively address the challenge of atmospheric carbon sequestration. After the main presentations, an open forum will be held to discuss lessons learned, exchanges ideas, and consider local resources pertaining to the subject.
