The Other ‘F’ Word: Failure and Its Importance to Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Monday, February 3, 2014 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM (EST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Failure is a reality we encounter every day, in almost every arena. Even an all-star baseball player typically fails twice as often as he succeeds when he steps into the batter’s box.
Haas professors and co-authors, John Danner and Mark Coopersmith, believe “a fundamental test of leadership and business resiliency is fluency in anticipating, mitigating, learning, and rebounding from failure.” In fact, they are teaching a Haas course and writing a book about “The Other ‘F’ Word.”
Their provocative observation is that most organizations and their leaders focus so much on success that they fundamentally flunk failure! Why is that and how can business leaders improve in dealing with this essential issue?
Join a lively discussion with Professor Danner about moving failure from taboo to the table. Hear how successful entrepreneurship and inspired leadership can create a healthy appreciation of – and generate benefits from - the lessons of failure. Discover the connections between failure and real innovation, and seven steps you and your organization can take to use failure to improve long-term success
We will provide light refreshments and appetizers, and there will be time to network with fellow alums and attendees after the presentation.
We look forward to you joining us for a truly unique event!
