Workshop Description: Learning Objectives! What are they and why are they so darn important? In a nutshell, they describe what a student will gain from taking a course (or series of courses if you are considering a full program or degree). It is part of the process by which educators systematically analyze the learning needs of a course and then develop & design content, activities, & assessments to meet those needs...and measure how well the learning needs were met. In this workshop, we will discuss more about the definition of learning objectives, share information about how to write an effective learning objective, and determine how we might apply them in our courses.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Identify differences between course-level & unit-level learning objectives.
2. Develop measurable learning objectives that align with expectations.
3. Align activities & assessments so they will measure the objectives you develop.
4. Explore compentency & learning objective settings in D2L.
5. Make Recommendations for next steps & future workshops
What to Bring to our Workshop: This workshop is designed to be a hands-on experience using real examples--Your class! We will review your course objectives and then one of your learning units to help the learning objecitives align by setting up or revising learning objectives, activities, assessments, etc. So you will need to bring your syllabus and/or other information that will help you access your learning objectives (your text book & personal laptops are also good tools).
FYI: After you register, there is no need to print your ticket!!
We will have a Check-In sheet using the registration list at the workshop.
