Event Details

SPECTRA EVENTS hosts a Special Holiday Edition of their favorite performance revue, The NERDY CABARET -- UNWRAPPED!

Wed December 14th
Doors at 7PM, Show at 8PM
Middle East Upstairs
472 Mass Ave Cambridge MA

This show is open to everyone 18+

Performers come bare-ing the gift of burlesque, erotica, drag, and musical numbers from RENT!

Check out the event on Facebook!

The NERDY CABARET is an audience-driven theatrical experiment in the fine art of geekdom; hipsters are encouraged to sport their fake wide-rimmed glasses, lab technicians spontaneously strip down to inflammable lingerie, and after-work-didn’t-have-time-to-change ensembles can pass as kinky. Nerdy science jokes, political sattire, deconstructive hip-hop story-telling, and sexy role-play involving inanimate objects are all encouraged here. Enter at your own risk.

This month's Special Holiday Edition: The NERDY CABARET "UNRWAPPED" is all about geekifying, subversifying and unwrapping (*wink*) the Holidays!

To Our NERDY Audience: Wear RED if you embrace the festivities and holiday cheer, or BLACK if you are a proud scrooge. We're thinking candy cane suspenders, a silver bow tie, and some chick-magnet Elf ears. If you "happen" to have some mistletoe handy (tee hee), feel free to bring that along too!

Note: Dressing according to theme is part of the fun in attending the NERDY CABARET, but of course not required for all you classical nerds out there who'd just like to "come as yourselves". All We Want for Chriskwanzakkah is for you to join us as we nerdify the season!

Tell Us You're Coming: Facebook Event | Official Guest List for $8 Admission

ADMISSION: Sign up for the $8 Guest List (or pre-purchase your ticket). Otherwise, $12 at the Door.

SPECTRA is the intellectually artsy mastermind behind Spectra Events (and their infamous show, the Nerdy Cabaret).

This creative nerd, introverted socialite, and femme-lovin' Naija boi digs video games as commentary for the human experience and multivariable calculus as a metaphor for relationships.

When s/he's not making love to a piano (or other inanimate objects), s/he's blogging about more serious stuff at www.spectraspeaks.com, espousing un-proofed formulas for optimizing polyamorous connections and pondering the science of love at @iqwoc on Twitter, and of course giving away free tickets to upcoming events at @spectrasevents.

IDIALIA is a fierce Puertominican poet; a proud nerd, and a lover of safe words like pancakes, hickies, and sugarmelt.

She began writing for herself, until she looked around only to realize the scarcity of voices like hers -- queer brown artsy and kinky -- in the media, so now she writes for everyone else; for the kid in kindergarten who cried after someone made fun of his accent, for her little sister who asked her to pass the “people colored crayon” (peach), for the transgender girl who smiled after putting on lipstick for the first time, and to the people privileged enough to ignore the injustices that exist in the world.

Follow her on Tumblr and on Twitter, and maybe she'll blow you a kiss.

Aporia is a rope bondage enigma, a riddle of uncertain signification, an impasse or paradox. Reputed to entail conceptual puzzlement and corporeal paralysis, Aporia continues to unsettle the conditions of possibility around bodies, mobility, and built environments in Boston and beyond.

A group of talented, bohemian, student musical theater enthusiasts singing your favorite songs from RENT!

Although Berklee is famous for its jazz and contemporary music, the school's musical theater community is rapidly expanding. The club has grown to over 300 members of student performers, writers, arrangers, and lovers of musical theater!

NERDY Stamp? We say: Approved!

We'll be joined by: Terrel James, Tara Tennant, Daniel King, Jonathan Behar, Joseph Petmezis, Javelle Stephens, and supporting cast!

Back by popular demand is Sapphira Cristal -- The Queen of Boston Pride -- and crowd-favorite drag performer of the NERDY CABARET.

Often called the "Gospel Diva," she is a wild energetic entertainer who captures her audience with her "unflinching Focus". This Fabulous Ebony Diva is a classically trained singer and actor and can be found performing at Jacques Cabaret and Machine Nightclub.

And guess what? Sapphira will also be hosting Spectra Events' GLITTER: A HollaGAY New Year's(ish Dance Party, and will be the deciding judge of the "Gayest Costume Contest."

Follow her on Facebook to stay up to date on her appearance.

Delilah is a multi-genre entertainer that loves to flaunt her....talents.

Starting in slap-stick as a kiddo, through drama and Shakespeare as a high schooler, she worked her way to learning to pole dance starting recently, as a gorgeous 20 year old.

She goes for fun, campy, classy, and sexy; and grows out of theater geekdom and is a bookish, debate nerd when she's not in panties and pasties.
