Featuring Dr. Emily Carr's lecture: "FOOTNOTE TO FORFEIT: AUTOPSY OF A MURDER" - a multi-media collage essay, was composed during a 2011 fellowship at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Some strands of this interdisciplinary artist’s book forage into the ways our experiences decompose into memory then rumor; the processes of intervention and interpretation involved in any reading. Something’s always being forgotten (or misremembered) that we don’t notice. Sometimes not getting the story the way it was intended can be the very thing that makes it successful. It’s the flaw that dazzles… The layering (like sediment) of texts is intended to turn things (as “commodity”) to events (as “matters of care”). LOCATION: The Brooks Room in the Bend Downtown Library TIME: Sunday, November 10th, 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
