Overview Image

Join us for a discussion of how color plays a vital role in the creative process from four points of view: the director, the DP, the colorist and visual effects artist, all told from industry leaders responsible for some of the most compelling stories of our day. This will be followed with a Q&A session with our speakers. After the presentations, you will have a chance to use Technicolor Color Assist and experience this innovative software yourself.

Adam Valdez: Valdez is currently the VFX supervisor on World War Z and Maleficent. He works at the Academy Award Winning MPC visual effects studio and is also known for his visual effects on titles such as, The Lord of the Rings (The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers), The Chronicles of Narnia (Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader), and John Carter.  Valdez has been involved with visual effects since 1990 when he worked on the robot monster crew for Robo Cop 2.

Bob Schneider: Schneider works at Technicolor Creative Services as Sr. Editor DI. In this role, he makes sure the whole movie comes together properly graded and with a consistent look. The more complicated the feature film, the happier he is. With more than 30 years' experience in the industry, Schneider has worked with all the major studios: Warner Brothers, Disney, Universal, Sony and Marvel. He has completed work on titles such as, Gangster Squad, Dead Man Down, Movie 43, The Big Wedding, Safe Haven, American Reunion and Odd Life of Timothy Green.

Ron Garcia, ASC:  Garcia became an editor, art director, director and producer of low-budget feature films so he could study the art of cinematography. His feature credits include: David Lynch’s, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me and Storyville. His numerous TV credits include: 2010’s Hawaii Five-0, five seasons of Numb3rs and EZ Streets. His work has earned him Emmy and ASC award nominations and he has won two ACE Cable awards. He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and a member of the Academy Sci-Tech Awards committee.

Vincent Laforet: Laforet is a three-time winner at the prestigious 2010 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. He is an acclaimed director and Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer who is known for his forward-thinking approach to image making and storytelling. He is considered a pioneer both for his innovative tilt-shift and aerial photography and in the field of HD-capable DSLR cameras. In fact, his short film Reverie, the first 1080p video shot with a still camera, was seen more than 2 million times in the first week of its 2009 release.

Cocktails will be served.
