The Magic Bus Girls Football Team Comes to Houston!
Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM (CDT)
Sugar Land, TX
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Magic Bus organizes children from India's slums and marginalized communities in a sports-based curriculum proven to engage entire communities and have developmental impact. While playing, they imbibe the values and attitudes that will enable them to succeed and create a better life for themselves.
Two years ago Magic Bus started a football (soccer) team in Mumbai for girls to complement the boys’ team that was competing in national tournaments. Six girl footballers, 14-16 years old, have been invited by the former U.S. Women’s National team captain Julie Foudy, to attend her Leadership Academy for a week-long program of soccer and leadership skill building.
Come and hear in them share the journey they have taken from the slums of Mumbai to the playing fields of the USA. Show your support for their courage in bucking the injunctions against girls playing a sport alongside boys.
Take part with your family when the girls facilitate activities that foster real impact in their communities in India in the areas of education, gender equality, and health! Snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the day, as well as covered and air-conditioned parts of the community center.
We encourage you to bring friends who might be interested in learning about India’s largest mentoring charity and fastest growing NGO.

When & Where
Magic Bus USA
Magic Bus is committed to developing local community mentors who take children living in poverty on the journey from childhood to livelihood.
Over a ten year period, our mentors work with children and parents through a weekly curriculum of sporting activities, which are used as metaphors to change behavior in the areas of education, health, gender and livelihood.
We always access existing community partnerships to ensure that young people move from poverty, and develop into young adults with greater control and choice.
All Magic Bus graduates are offered the opportunity to enroll in livelihood programs, creating at scale, a movement of competent, confident young people ready to make a significant difference to their lives.
