Event Details

Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) is considered the founder of modern nursing.  She was that and much more.  She was a celebrated statistician, a media star and war hero, a pioneer in hospital administration and the founder of a school of nursing at St. Thomas Hospital in London.  Her work in what we now call epidemiology and infection prevention revolutionized healthcare in her times.  This program will showcase the art and science of Nightingale.  Then building upon her legacy we will explore the nurse's role in infection prevention today and what the future holds for health practitioners in our attempt to prevent and cure infections.
