For the next installment of The Hollywood Masters series, Stephen Galloway chats with Academy Award nominated writer/director/producer John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood, Four Brothers). Singleton burst on the scene fresh out of film school with his directorial debut, Boyz n the Hood, establishing himself as an auteur of mainstream urban filmmaking before branching out to blockbusting franchises like Shaft and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Singleton has also produced some critical and commercial successes including Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan.

Stephen Galloway is executive editor of features for The Hollywood Reporter and a prize-winning journalist who in November was named Entertainment Journalist of the Year at the National Entertainment Journalism Awards. His work has covered a who’s who of Hollywood including Steven Spielberg, Denzel Washington, Sean Penn, Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
