For the upcoming installment of The Hollywood Masters series, Stephen Galloway sits down with Academy Award-winning director William Friedkin (The French Connection, The Exorcist, Killer Joe). Friedkin started out directing documentaries for television before transitioning into features. His place in film history was cemented with The French Connection, which took home five Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. His follow-up film, The Exorcist, is widely considered among the greatest horror films ever made. In the decades since, Friedkin has continued to push the boundaries of mainstream filmmaking with character driven genre films such as Sorcerer, To Live and Die in LA, Blue Chips, Rules of Engagement, Bug and Killer Joe.
