Join Parlour Tapes+ to eat, drink, party ... and solve the cold-blooded murder of a beloved Chicago percussionist.
Live performances from Spektral Quartet, Manual Cinema, Tim Munro, Doug Perkins, Mabel Kwan, and Katherine Young & Alejandro Acierto. Live poetry-writing from Poems While You Wait. You might even win a tape player.
All proceeds help Parlour Tapes+ release its first two albums and produce the first issue of our online magazine.
Parlour Tapes+ is a newly-formed new music record label intent on disseminating a
sampling of Chicago's unique and relevant voices. Our first two projects were released as
digital downloads and cassettes in late 2013. The first was a focused and well received debut release from Spektral Quartet, the Alex Ross (New Yorker, NYTimes) praised 'upstart Chicago-based string quartet.'
The second, called the *AND Project, asked 10 Chicago luminary sound makers (composers, ensembles, electronic musicians) to collaborate with interdisciplinary artists based in other cities around the world to create a truly impressive compilation- a snapshot of exactly what’s happening in the Chicago new music scene at this very moment, projected across the world. The project also contained a built in worldwide marketing team in the far flung collaborators.
