The Gospel of Healing: Volume I: Black Churches Respond to HIV/AIDS film depicts the work of that small, nimble faith-based organizations in rural and urban areas are doing to serve and mobilize their local communities to combat HIV/AIDS, profiling five innovative models of faith-based HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care that have had a positive impact. This work—which has often outperformed local and state public health programs—includes needle-exchange for IV-drug users, condom distribution, HIV testing at churches, prevention programs at prisons, and support groups and primary care services for people living with HIV/AIDS.
