The Dirt on Dorian Gray is a contemporary meets street dance and electronics meets strings examination of the Peter Pan Syndrome and normative ideas about aging and achievement. This evening-length dance program examines conflicts such as, “Career or children?” and “Sex or security?” Youth reigns and we refuse to grow up - but at what cost? Here in the Bay Area, home of the “alternative lifestyle,” this phenomenon is heightened. In “The Dirt on Dorian Gray,” we delve in and confront why. Perhaps we are lazy or broken. Perhaps we are idealistic. Perhaps we are indulgent or promiscuous. Perhaps we have been right all along.
Located in SOMA in San Francisco, CounterPULSE is a non-profit theater, performance space, community center, and gallery with roots deep in the Bay Area’s provocative performance and dance scenes. CounterPULSE produces its own shows, helps support local artists and activists with its programs and can be rented for productions and rehearsals.
Our Box Office opens for will-call and at-the-door purchase 45 minutes before showtime.
