The Denver Spelling Bee
Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 6:00 PM (MDT)
The Denver Spelling Bee has partnered with Burning Through Pages to bring the Denver metro an adult spelling bee. In addition to promoting a “getting back to basics of literacy” with adults, the partnership aims to empower the efforts of Burning Through Pages and their commitment to advocating reading and writing for Denver’s youth.
About Burning Through Pages
Burning Through Pages is a non-profit organization based out of Denver, CO dedicated to the advocacy of reading and writing for our city's youth. The working concept of Burning Through Pages is that the literature assigned by public and private schools, while important, contains dated prose and often antiquated ideals. While the classics are classics for a reason, they are not always easily relatable to the current generation reading them. That's where we come in. We are here to introduce new and updated literature to Denver's youth. We buy books, give
them away, and take the time to talk about them.
Mission Statement: To provide a night of social fun while encouraging adults in the fields of technology, social sciences, government, and more to embrace the basics of literacy.
