Description

A full day event hosted by the DC Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, the District Department of Transportation, Code for DC, the Aspen Institute, OpenGov Hub, and the Internet Association convening civic hackers, transportation geeks, urban planners, academics, entrepreneurs, and advocates. Participants will brainstorm and code their way to fresh insights about DC's transportation ecosystem and what it should look like in the 21st century.


The Mayor's Transportation Hackathon and Policy Jam will catalyze dialog about transportation policy and services as well as provide an opportunity for hacking on sticky technical and user experience issues facing the system today. Participants will collaborate in three areas:


  1. Streetcar mobile ticketing/enforcement applications

  2. Transit data visualization and digital storytelling with a focus on underserved neighborhoods

  3. Trip planning usability and development with a focus on physical accessibility
