Guest Speaker: Peter Gioia

With approximately 10,000 member companies, CBIA is CT’s largest business organization. Peter Gioia, Vice President & Economist, manages the Research Department, which provides in-depth economic and policy analyses, survey research assistance and international trade information.

Mr. Gioia tracks Connecticut’s economy through a number of the CBIA published surveys on a wide range of subjects such as manufacturing, training needs, information technology, credit availability, small business, business expansion, international trade and education. He has published numerous white papers and special reports on topics including transportation, myths and facts about the Connecticut economy and state spending. Mr. Gioia is a frequent contributor to the association’s website – cbia.com, the Connecticut Business Minute radio report, Government Affairs Report and CBIA News.

In addition to his frequent speaking engagements, Mr. Gioia is quoted over 400 times a year in the media and often features on media programs concerning business and political issues in the region. He manages several outlook conferences on the Connecticut and regional economies each year working with partners such as the Federal Reserve Bank, the Hartford Area Business Economists, the New England Economic Project and the MetroHartford Economic Alliance.

Before joining CBIA in November 1989, our speaker was a Senior Consultant with KPMG Peat Marwick. His prior experience includes positions with the CT General Assembly’s Office of Fiscal Analysis and the Institute of Social Inquiry’s CT Poll.
